I'm really not sure what I was expecting to find when I started blogging, and I was certainly not expecting to find this brand new world of tons and tons of people. But over the past several months, I've discovered a few commonalities in many of those who blog. And many of those commonalities are traits, interests, obsessions that I shockingly don't share. I'm not necessarily saying the items below are wrong, I'm just saying they seem to apply to everyone but me!
So because of this, I think it's safe to say I am officially a blogging weirdo, and I'm really not sure what I'm doing here!
1~ Target. We don't have a Target back in WV, so when we moved here to NC, I was excited to try it. Of course I'd been there several times in the past, but not recently, and certainly not to the point that I'm a regular. Seeing everyone and their mother in blogland singing its praises, I was expecting greatness. And now that we've been, Daniel and I agree: we don't really see the big deal. *GASP*
2~ Designer fashion. Okay, I love dressing up and looking nice (which you've probably gathered I don't get to do much), but the determining factor in if I buy a piece of clothing, besides of course its appearance and fit, is its price. I absolutely could not care less about shopping for Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs and Kate Spade and even Aeropostale and JCrew, blah, blah, blah. I honestly think even if I had all kinds of money at my disposal towaste spend on designer/trendy clothing and accessories, I still would be living off the clearance racks at Cato and Burkes.
3~ Starbucks. I don't drink coffee. I don't like coffee. Or tea. Of any kind. I don't live at Starbucks and I don't live for the PSL. (But you've already heard that.) I do, however, love the smell of coffee. Does that make it all better?
4~ Fall. Speaking of not liking the PSL, I don't like fall. Like at all. And I've found about 98% of bloggers cannot. freaking. wait to trade in flipflops and tanktops for boots and scarves. Y'all are crazy. (For more on why I almost hate fall, check out this post.)
However, I'm starting to wonder if the weather we're having here lately is what you all in NC call fall? Cause holy cow, if it is, I totally see what the fuss is all about! (Except the boots and scarves and pumpkins and all, of course.)
5~ Wine. Beer. Anything. You've probably surmised by now that I don't drink alcohol of any kind. So all this relaxing with wine after work is just bizarre to me. I'm sorry, I relax with filtered water and a bunch of these cookies...
6~ Babies. Though I'm a 20-something newlywed, I don't have any children, and I don't have baby fever either. Now that is weird in these here blog parts.
7~ Pets. Not only do I not have children, I don't even have a pet to overflow your Instagram with. I do, however, really, really want a very certain doggy, who will come someday. But I can't share pictures of my imaginary dog, can I?
So, what on earth am I doing here in blogland?? I'm not quite sure! I'm definitely an oddball. But a few of you are sticking around anyway (at least until this shocking post!), and for you guys who have cared to read my blog and stick around even though I am most definitely a blogging weirdo, I am very grateful. <3

I don't like PSLs either!
ReplyDeleteYou're not weird at all, Kacie! (Although I do think you need to go to Target with ME) ;) haha. I think that's what makes blogland so great- a lot of us are similar in certain areas but we're all different, which is what makes connecting and reading other people's blogs FUN (for me, at least.) I don't want to read the same post over and over by various bloggers. Keep doing what you're doing... as long as what you're doing brings you happiness, that's all that matters!
ReplyDeleteI love what you said about Target so funny! I also am not a coffee drinker and don't like Starbucks. I am glad I am not theo nly one in the world:)
ReplyDeleteYay! Not just me! There is so much more to life than Target and Starbucks. ;)
DeleteHaha, you know...this post it's really perfect...You've truly picked up on a lot of the blog "biggies" I've written a post with somewhat of the same feel and also thought about the ways that I differ from what seems like the masses here in blogland...But I just want to encourage you to rock what you're doing and who you are...We need originality, we need you!
ReplyDeleteYou're definitely not weird...I too don't' really drink at all and if I do, it's a rare occasion not a regular occurrence, I also don't get the whole Starbucks thing. Their menu is pretty much written in a foreign language to me. Oh and Target? Yeah definitely not all they're made out to be. I used to love them and then realized they charge $30 for a $1 t shirt...no thanks.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this! Such true cliches in the blogging world :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shane! Yes, I really can't believe how common they are!!
DeleteOh Kacie, you break my little blogging heart ;) You're right I'm crazy about the majority of these things. Target is just the black hole of all the little nicknacks you never knew you needed, and I have to admit I was crazy about all things pumpkin and coffee before blogging. You're certainly no blogging weirdo thought ;) I'm so happy you're here in blogland!!
ReplyDeleteI don't like coffee either! Whenever I go to Starbucks I say light coffee or only one shot of expresso so I can't taste it! The only 2 I fall under is that one and Target, I just like that it has a little of everything (mainly makeup, decor, & movies). Although I really want a little puppy someday too! I've even picked out a name for him already! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, yes, my future puppy is named too! So funny. And I'm glad to hear a lot of these apply to you too! :)
DeleteLOL! Yes, such clichées! You know, I'm always happy to see bloggers who don't follow the big crowds. Well, that's mainly about what they blog about and not about what they like, but still...
ReplyDeleteI love autumn though, and coffee, but NOT Starbucks. And what I like about autumn is the colours on the trees. When the leaves fall off and there's the feeling of snow in the air, then the good times are definitely over.
Oh yes, the colors of autumn are gorgeous--it's the cool temperature where I grew up (where I'm used to) that I just can't take. But since we moved farther south recently where it's warmer in the fall, I'm thinking it might not be as bad! :) But winter, yes, it can just feel free to disappear... ;)
DeleteHahahah Kacie! I can totally relate to you with all of these except for coffee and wine :)) But that's a BEAUTIFUL thing; we NEED diversity around here!! You be you, girl. You belong in Blogland.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much Abigail. :) I knew I was kind of an odd one out blogging, then we went to Target and that sealed the deal. ;)
